financial counseling

Financial Case Management/Coaching is one-on-one counseling to support individuals and families working to make the changes that will lead to long-term self-sufficiency.

Staff connects participants with community programs and services that can increase available household resources, and helps them to set goals and objectives to help move forward along the self-sufficiency continuum.

Counselors and clients work together to examine attitudes about money, create and monitor a household budget, repair credit, and identify resources for saving and investing.

Income guidelines for financial case management are:

Household Size Monthly Income

tax assistanceFinancial Workshops presented in partnership with local financial institutions help families learn to manage scarce resources.  Other topics include identity theft, credit repair, credit card debt, and more.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) provides free tax preparation to households with annual income of $50,000 or less.  Tax counseling determines eligibility for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and other credits that increase refund amounts, and e-filing with direct deposit can provide refunds in 7 to 10 days.  In addition, staff is available to provide outreach and information to businesses, service organizations and the community to inform low-wage workers about EITC and other credits that can increase household income.
